Clifford Arms Classic Car and Bike Show
The month of May saw the first annual Clifford Arms Classic Car and Bike Show held in the spacious car-park of the Clifford Arms public house in the lovely village of Great Haywood in Staffordshire. This was the first of what is hoped will become an annual event. Shenstone Branch were invited to attend and have a club stand including erecting the branch gazebo. The event was a fund-raiser for 3 charities, The Air Ambulance, Crones disease and the blood delivery bikes.
The event was arranged as a static display put on by the Clifford club members and the Shenstone Norton owners, Shenstone branch fielded 13 bikes in all with a good cross-section of Nortons from across the classic period. The show was also a “ride in” event and across the afternoon there were probably in the region of 250 visiting bikes not to mention the local villagers who came down to see what all the noise was about. The Guest of Honour was the much Loved “uncle” Jim Reynolds who arrived by motorcycle from his home in Cloebury Mortimer, Shropshire. There were many superb classic and vintage bikes both on display and visiting the show but the prize for “Best Bike” went to Keith Waring, a member of the Clifford Club for his immaculate Flat Tanker Triumph which is ridden frequently to VMCC events. The weather was kind to us and great fun was had by all with a Hog Roast and Ice Cream cart in attendance. Quite a number of people came and spoke to us about the Norton Owners Club and several went away with the intention of joining the club on-line. Since this show our Shenstone branch has welcomed 4 new members to our branch meetings, which has to be a good thing. The show was a roaring success for both the Clifford Club, the Charities and Shenstone branch and we look forward to joining in again next year.
